August 2017 - Modern Quilt Group tutor boxes

This month we covered quilt entries for the Church 150th Anniversary Craft Exhibition next month. this will showcase the talents of the groups and individuals who use the church facilities. You can find details by clicking on the Event gadget on the right of the screen. We sorted out volunteers for helping to setup and take down the exhibition and the stewarding for the day. It looks like a good show with at least 36 items on display and a selection of Project Linus quilts. That's just the patchwork and quilting element. Homemade cake will also be on offer for refreshment.

We had a Tutor box from the Modern Quilt Group of the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles. It was called Modern crosses and also contained a sample for Bright crosses, tutor boxes 9 and 3 respectively. There seemed to be quite a bit of interest in the technique, so we look forward to showing the results of members efforts at a later date.

As usual there was a lot of activity on members own projects. On the patchwork and quilting front we had,

Flower Garden group quilt is well under way

Ever popular hexagons, nice and portable

Bordered squares quilt

Tilted Squares quilt
We had knitting projects.

Lace dolls dress from a vintage knitting pattern

A bee hand puppet for the Shoe box appeal

Small baby cardigan for prem baby unit, also a vintage pattern. It is knitted as one piece, so no seams to stitch.

One member had started a Blackwork embroidery.

Last, but not least, we had a finished Charm square bag from our workshop earlier in the year.
