Saturday 5th April - Paula Doyle Giant Dahlia workshop

Well it was our first Saturday workshop as a group and 12 of us had signed up with Paula Doyle to do her Giant Dahlia course at the Trinity Centre.

Paula and her goodies
We all had an enjoyable time cutting out our pieces in our chosen fabrics and then joining using American Piecing technique (so no wrapping fabric round papers as in English Paper Piecing).

Ready for stitching

Made a start
Paula was an inspirational teacher and we all had lots of fun, although Paula did comment on how quiet we were in the morning!  That is because we were all busy concentrating on cutting out our shapes accurately I am sure.  The afternoon buzz built up especially as the first part of the Giant Dahlia began to take shape.  Lots of homework to do for us after the day ended.

Check out Paula's website www.greenmountainquilts.com and look at the Giant Dahlia in full colour in the Classes section of the website.

A very big thank you goes to Paula for her time and patience and helping to make it such a great day.

Come along to our meeting on 1st May for our 'Show and Tell' and see what everyone has produced from the workshop.

Look out for details and reports of our next Saturday workshop with Julia Gahagan in September 2014.
