December 2016 - Felt robin and dove Christmas decorations

This meeting was Christmas themed projects and nibbles. Christmas projects are not compulsory so there was a variety of work on show. The Christmas projects this year were birds. on offer were a robin and a dove made from felt or a semi circle bird which could be made from felt, fabric or crazy patchwork. the patterns can be found here Christmas 2016

The robin and dove were the most popular.

As we have a limited amount of time and space on a Thursday, hand work is much in evidence, whether piecing or finishing a quilted item or one of the other handicrafts our members are gifted with.

Lastly, here is a lovely interactive fabric book made for a grandchild. I would not mind one of these myself it is such fun.

October 2016 - Show and Tell

This month we started spending money and raising money for our club.  Members bought in books, kits and fabric that others were very willing to buy.

Throughout the evening members were working on a variety of different projects.  Its quite exciting to see different people's work.

Members continued working on our sampler quilt and shown below are different stages of the quilt, for example some members were using the Quilt As You Go method.

Members were using different techniques such as applique.

Look at this very pretty border.

English paper piecing - what a labour of love!

A combination of both quilting and embroidery, so pretty.

One finished project.  Circles and more circles.

Fantastic work by our members.  Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday 3rd of November when the suitcase collection called 'Whatever the weather' will be shown.

August 2016: Block of the Month - update

Last month saw the demonstration of our final blocks. This month, of course, we get to admire. With many ladies on holiday at the moment, there were just a few to admire.

With one lady completing the whole 20 blocks since last month, just goes to show what you can achieve when you want too!

And one lady making a start, with eight completed blocks.

We are now on the final leg of our sampler quilt, connecting the blocks together - can't wait to see them! And, of course, we had the WIP out at the back of the class!

Our next meeting on September 1st will be our AGM, please bring with you ideas, suggestions, and maybe a helping hand.  The group is currently looking for someone to fill the role of Chairlady, Catering Manager (making the teas), Blog Writer and Facebook coordinator.  If you can help with any of these roles, or would like to help the committee generally then please let us know.  Happy quilting ladies and see you in September.
