February 2016: Block a Month - Rail Fence, Monkey Wrench, Double Nine Patch and Shoo Fly

Our first meeting of 2016, with good attendance, and two new possible members. We started our Block a Month sampler quilt.

With twenty blocks in total, the first four, basic blocks were demonstrated tonight.  The demonstrations were completed by our own group members. Members with a varying range of quilting skills and very little teaching experience.  But we were amongst friends who were kind to us all.  The evening went well.  Lots of techniques shared, questions answered and ideas given.  The possible new members enjoyed the evening, so much so they are coming back next month!!

Our blocks on demonstration tonight were:

Rail Fence:

Double Nine Patch:

Monkey Wrench:

Shoo Fly:

Alternative colour ways, quilts using the same block throughout or a combination of two, can be found on our face book page - do have a look, and of course feel free to leave any comments.  Also please feel free to post a photo of your finished block for others to admire!.

The evening would not be complete without admiring our members work in progress and, of course, the quilts that have been completed and are off to new homes.
