December update

Here are some quilts from Barbara M that she has made for Project Linus. Barbara used a pattern called 'Simple Take 5 Fabrics' block from Creative Quilting to create the first 4 of these lovely designs.

This is one members charming Cute Robin Christmas card.

December 2020 - Cute Robin Christmas card

Christmas is fast approaching, hopefully it looks like we will be able to spend it with some of our family. This month our project is this Cute Robin Christmas card.

Simple and quick to make so why not make some up for family and friends.

This lovely quilt has been made by Celia H for her grandson, who is mad on tigers.

November update

Once again we find ourselves in Lockdown, although disappointing, if it means we can have small get togethers at Christmas it will be worth it.

Last month we sent out brightly coloured squares of fabric to members, asking them to add borders in bright colours to coordinate and/or contrast. Here is one result;

We will collect the blocks once we are able to meet up again, hopefully early in 2021, and make them up into Project Linus quilts.

November sees us making some Christmas decorations from this selection;

Click here for the patterns.

This is a scrappy quilt for Project Linus, it was made using a 'new toy' - an over locker;

Lastly, another Christmas project from a Creative Quilting pattern from many years ago, working lights included.

October update 2

 Apologies are due to one member for not posting these lovely quilts on receipt of the pictures. It was several months ago and I could not find the original email to credit the maker. Thank you for sending them.

October update

 We have been sent pictures of these three lovely Linus quilts from Linda W.

It has been seven months since our last meeting at the Trinity Centre and it is doubtful that we will be meeting in person again until the New Year. With this in mind, the QoS Committee had a meeting via Zoom last week to discuss getting members involved with group and individual projects.

We started the ball rolling with a group project. Each member has been sent two 4 1/2'' colourful fabric squares, with instructions to make two complementary blocks using borders from their fabric stash. When we next meet we will sort them to make Linus Quilts.

We also sent out a list of contact numbers for the Committee members, should any one fancy a chat, whether to do with quilting or life generally in these unusual times.

For November we will be working on Christmas decorations and in December we will be making cards.

We all hope the New Year brings a change in circumstances for the better. Stay safe and well with best wishes from your QoS Committee.

July update 3

Many of us had not seen each other for several months, so it was proposed that we have a get together in a members garden. The gathering took place this week in CH's garden with glorious weather. We sat in the sun/shade and had a show and tell with some of the quilts we had been making during the lock-down. It was very nice seeing other members in person, I think we are all missing our monthly meetings. We have been asked our opinion on resuming meetings by the Centre, but so much depends on how stable the virus infection rate stays.

Most of the orphan blocks we collected at our last meeting, have found their way into Linus quilts. Here are some that have not been posted previously.

Being at home more often has made us take a look at all our fabric bits and pieces, so there were a few Scrap box quilts on show. Most of us said we don't seem to have a lot less scraps, despite the number of quilts we have managed to make from them!

Lastly we have a 9 patch block made in response to a challenge the group sent out at the beginning of lock-down, if a few more blocks turn up we may get enough for a group quilt.

I hope you are enjoying these posts, hopefully we may be able to restart our meetings come September. Personally, I am missing them and can't wait to get back. Don't stop sewing and please send the results so we can keep up the posts.

May update 4

Another week of lock-down and a few more projects to view.

CH has been busy, partly due to a gardening accident resulting in a rest. We wish you a speedy recovery.

Knitted unicorns
CD finished this Easy Stack quilt  (pattern by Paula Doyle), started last summer at a workshop with Linda Seward. Each square is quilted differently, making the back interesting.

This pattern is called A Quilters Christmas from Brenda Walker's Country Folk range. They are too good to keep for Christmas, so made up as a garland for the sewing room. I may make another set in Christmas colours.
