February 2018 - Wavy piecing by hand

This months meeting started with a demonstration on wavy piecing by hand. We had seen a quilt in the suitcase collection, "Whatever the Weather", we had hired from the Quilters Guild last year, that used a technique for wavy piecing. Some of our members were keen to have a demonstration for this.

We had a lot to show and tell this month, with finished and on going Christmas projects.

We had some hand quilted pieces in progress.

The ever popular hexagons, firstly a group project started as an English paper piecing demonstration and destined for Project Linus. Thanks, chiefly, to the efforts of one member who is sewing them all together.

There were also some finished quilts from the November workshop as well as a WIP.

There was a finished Sampler quilt and a Twisted squares quilt from one of last years workshops
Beautiful sampler quilt, put together using QAYG method

Rainbow coloured quilt, colours more vibrant than shown by photo
Another sampler quilt with the blocks being quilted before assembly.

This quilt, based on a fan, was a kit recieved as a present. The colours are nice and bright, the maker is finding curved piecing challenging.

Lastly, a little patchwork Teddy bear about to be started.
