Several members were working on finishing Christmas decorations, with lots of finished ones too. The stars proved particularly popular, with those of us making them doing more than one!

This circle of card and strands of yarn will make a ski hat decoration.

Still on a seasonal theme this panel is a kit from Village Fabrics, using a printed/dyed background and bonded applique shapes.

Hexagons are a recurring theme amongst our members, due to their portability perhaps.

We also had the results of our recent workshop. The technique was a variation on the pineapple block as used by Karin Hellaby. Depending on the size of your first patch and the number of rows you use, it can be adapted to various sizes and used in many different projects. Christmas table runners were a popular choice. We had some Christmas nibbles and a quiz to test our knowledge of TV comedy shows. We were sadly lacking in this area, perhaps we have better things to do?

November 2017 - Methods for finishing the edge of a quilt

Continuing on from last month, we were working on various Christmas decorations, with some lovely items for Show and Tell this month. We also had a talk with examples on methods for finishing the edge of a quilt.

Our Members seem to like making Christmas decorations, always approaching the process with enthusiasm. This year we were making Christmas trees, Stars and Lanterns, with lots of opportunity for embellishment.

Other decorations included some from past years and a folded circle that ends up a square..

Other projects being undertaken included wreaths, table runners and mats on a Christmas theme.

Items for Show and Tell included the progress on last years Sampler quilt, showing some lovely hand quilting. The maker said, that although using the QAYG technique to put it together was easier than doing it as one large quilt, she found it "a bit tedious after a while" and may not use the method again.
