August - Show and Tell

This evening was all about holding up our work and being proud - some of us are a little shy about our talents (and we really shouldn't be) and although we work on our projects week in and week out - we very rarely hold them up proudly - maybe it's time to think of showing our work in our very own mini exhibition!

We started the evening with donations from individual group members to the Project Linus pile -

These two were produced using old duvet covers picked up at a charity shop - just shows you don't need to keep buying expensive fabric - there is going to be a fight amongst the little ones for that Peppa Pig one!

Show and Tell : Large and small - a massive selection of finished projects - we are such a talented bunch of ladies..

Work in Progress during tonight's get together....

Continuation of very small hexagon paper piecing, Lace making - which we have not seen in class before and the sorting of scraps for a new quilt...

Bag making and a hand quilted cushion cover...

Black & White Challenge - with one additional colour - this has proved to be VERY popular amongst the group - with most members producing more than one block - remember you still have another 4 weeks until they need to finished - still time to have a go!

Still a block but made into a wall hanging....

Manor Park Community Fayre

We recently attended Manor Park Community Fayre in Sutton.  The weather was very kind to us - helping make the day a great success.  Although a small fair, it was great to see the community coming together to support small charities and groups like ourselves.

We had decided, as a group, this year that we would sell a small number of items on the stand to help raise funds for future use.  As a new, small group it would be nice to have funds to fall back on, to help with our continued growth and success.

The stand looked great - a selection of our work, as well as a massive selection of goods to sell. We even had help to pin the quilts high!

Work new and old, made a colourful addition to the stall - example of workshops, easy projects, more complicated projects - our folder of patterns and leaflets made chatting to customers most interesting - many enjoyed seeing our work and expressed an interest.  Let us keep our fingers crossed that we will have some follow up with that interest!

Items to sell took up the front of the stand and with items ranging from 20p up to £15, there really was something for everyone.  We now have a good stock of items to build on for future events.

The day was a great success - lots of items sold - and lots of interest from the local community!
