This month will be our last evening meeting, as in February we start in the afternoon at 2pm on a Monday. At our last meeting this year we displayed our annual challenge, it was set to make a 12 inch finished block using a common background with blue, green and /or grey. We hope to make at least one Linus quilt from the resulting blocks. This challenge was enthusiastically supported with most members making more than one block and as many as four. The total number of blocks received was 26, Well done Quilters.

While we had mince pies and Stollen with our tea, some members worked on projects and others just chatted.

November 2024

We had Christmas decorations scheduled for this month.  There were several on offer, Origami triangles, which could be made up into several items;

Laced star and Yoyo angel.

November 2023 - Country Hearts

 This month we tried our hand at Country Hearts. The original pattern was by Julia Gahagan. It has been slightly modified to make three different sized hearts.

November saw a diminished number of members attending, only 6, but those who did were enthusiastic when it came to making a decoration or two.

December 2020 - Cute Robin Christmas card

Christmas is fast approaching, hopefully it looks like we will be able to spend it with some of our family. This month our project is this Cute Robin Christmas card.

Simple and quick to make so why not make some up for family and friends.

This lovely quilt has been made by Celia H for her grandson, who is mad on tigers.

November update

Once again we find ourselves in Lockdown, although disappointing, if it means we can have small get togethers at Christmas it will be worth it.

Last month we sent out brightly coloured squares of fabric to members, asking them to add borders in bright colours to coordinate and/or contrast. Here is one result;

We will collect the blocks once we are able to meet up again, hopefully early in 2021, and make them up into Project Linus quilts.

November sees us making some Christmas decorations from this selection;

December 2018 - String art Christmas cards and Annual challenge quilts

This month was the Christmas nibbles and Challenge exhibition, we also had a go at String Art Christmas card designs.We had two designs to chose from a Christmas tree (two sizes) or a bauble. Everyone  seemed to enjoy the process, some finishing one and starting another. Lots of opportunity to use sparkly thread and embellishments lead to some lovely results. If you Google 'String art Christmas designs' you can see many more examples on Pinterest, with free patterns if you want to have a go.

This little blue tit in cross stitch was a WIP.

The 2018 Challenge produced 7 entries. The brief was Buildings and Monuments A3 maximum size. This showed some wonderful designs  with a variety of techniques used to good effect. There were two joint winners C and D, followed closely by F. Well done to all who entered.
