7th May 2015

Election night did not seem to deter the QoS - with nearly a full house present for tonight's activities. Once again a very diverse set of personal projects being worked on ....

Paper piecing - nearly ready for background fabric...

Sample of zip insertion and binding from last months technique class - with a little reminder on the joining on the binding.....

Continuation of the Dahlia project - from the Paula Doyle class ..... stunning colours don't you think...

Hand appliqué work - some amazing blanket stitching on these blocks.....

Cross stitch has progressed well since the last meeting - can't wait to see this framed!

Scallops being cut for a new project....

Final quilting - love the lime green centre....

Binding a quilt top - ready for patchwork flowers to be sewn on - pile of the yellow and blue flowers found in a charity shop - wonderful that they will be used on a quilt and finished as I'm sure their owner would have wanted.....

Some small fund raising items being finished....

Some stained glass patchwork being completed - with a pattern created from scratch rather than a published pattern - we have some amazing talent within our little group....

Quilting a rather jolly quilt top for Project Linus.....

Some knitting...

Help and advise always on hand from other members of the group....what ever your craft - there is such a massive selection of knowledge - someone always knows the answer - the best thing about belonging to a group!!

Fund raising items for group are coming along very well.... ideas and donations can be found here. Patterns for all these items can be found here.

Some finished items shown to the group....

A challenge was also set for the group tonight -  a black and white block (finished size 12.5") with the use of one other colour.  The blocks will be joined together to make a large quilt - and this will either be raffled off to raise funds for the group or presented to Project Linus - any blocks left over can be made into table mats, bags wall hangings etc.  These blocks should be finished for the September's meeting.

Our next meeting will be on 4th June - come along and say hello!
